GREAT NORTH BIKE RIDE 2007
SUNDAY August 26th 2007 (bank holiday wekend)
Seahouses to Tynemouth Priory


The Great North Bike Ride Starts at Seahouses Tourist Information Car Park at 9AM, to end at Tynemouth, outside the Priory. The cycle ride is approximately 54 miles, of beautiful Northumberland scenic coastline, ON ROAD, the entry fee is only £10.

If you feel the cycle ride is too far then please do join us at a point that suits your ability.

The £10 registration fee includes a NIKE T Shirt, Medal, to assist the charity please register before 20th August 2007. Please inform your friends, workmates, get a team together! Have some fun, and raise some money for charity at the same time.

Do I have to raise sponsorship money? Yes, the £10 registration fee covers the Chris Lucas Trust's unavoidable administrative and organisational costs. In order to raise as much money as possible for our future Scientific Medical Researcher, we solely rely upon sponsorship.

Late Entry Registrations

Please appreciate we solely rely upon sponsorship, therefore your late entry must cover our expenses, We make every effort to reduce costs wherever possible. However, certain costs are unavoidable, and we are firmly committed to organising events that ensure the safety of cyclists participating.

Your Late Entry Registration fee of £20.00. By charging an entry fee, we make sure that every penny of your sponsorship money goes straight to Chris Lucas Trust. Please go to the Late Entry Registration at The Great North Bike. On-the-day.
Please appreciate we have only a limited supply of T Shirts, Medals, ordered by supply and demand to accommodate the registrations to the closing date, please avoid disappointment by registering before the 20th August 2007.

GPS Training on a bike: GPS MTB training for the Summer

Bike News A weekends worth of GPS Training has a price of £269 per person in their own room and includes breakfast and dinner. Accommodation is for two nights. There is a short session before dinner on the Friday night, allowing the Sunday sessions to end in mid-afternoon for those who have to travel home. The course also includes the use of a eTrex Garmin unit which can be mounted onto the handlebars of your bike.
Please email for weekend bookings, most weekends can be booked plus week days if required.

DAY ONE:
Evening of arrival: Basic Navigation with GPS in mind.

DAY TWO:
Session One: How GPS works, Menus and Set Up, Choosing a GPS. Go outside and get lost!

Session Two: Map and compass, GPS fix, Recording, Entering and Finding Waypoints.

Session Three: GoTos, Routes, Walking with a compass, Navigating to a Waypoint, Create and follow Route.

Session Four: A local ride to test our skills, The growing sport of Geocaching. Tracklogs, Escape, Reviewing the Route.

Session Five (Evening): Estimating time, Placing waypoints, Planning on a digital map, Transfer to GPS

DAY THREE:
Session One: A chance to enjoy a final ride and practise skills learned on the course.

Session Two: Review progress, Final Questions, Farewells.
