Tony Ingram is the founder of Virtualbike Ltd, which has traded globally since
1999. Like most enthusiasts, he started off 20 years ago just cycling to keep
fit in between commercial diver contracts. This turned into a passion that has
not abated as new technology continues to make this an exciting way to get out
of doors and get off the beaten track at weekends. Therefore he is perfectly
positioned to advise in the area of adventure cycling and mountain bikes.
Being a dedicated mountain biker and technophile and afflicted with the burden
of having to push the edge of technology to the max, he also has a partnership
designing a new super-lightweight full suspension mountain bike frame. This
partnership is pushing the parameters of technology using the latest manufacturing
techniques and design software. The product used no prototyping and embraced
the aircraft philosophy of getting it right first time.
Tony has two engineering degrees from Coventry University and an MA Ed
from the University of Warwick. He has a long history in engineering, working
as a sub-sea engineer for 18 years and having his own engineering consultancy
designing racing exhaust systems.
This includes a current stint as a visiting Professor to Haward Technology Middle East, specialising in corrosion and corrosion protection of pipe-lines and offshore platforms, welding metallurgy and fracture mechanics.
He has worked as an E-Business Consultant at the National B2B Centre at the University of Warwick, alongside managing the Virtualbike website.
Tony also lectures in Profitable E-Business at the University of Warwick and supervises postgraduate students studying E-Business Management courses there.
